SGMP President’s Message
for 2019-2021 Board

Welcome to the Golden State Chapter of the Society of Government Meeting Professionals. SGMP is the only organization focusing exclusively on the needs of the government meeting planning segment. We are the third largest chapter of SGMP in the nation and our members span the entire State of California, many of whom are employed or contracted by federal, state, county, and city government agencies. We strive to maintain a ratio of 50 percent meeting planners to suppliers. Our supplier members represent the hotel industry, convention and visitors’ bureaus, audio visual companies, and other meeting-related industries dedicated to providing the resources meeting planners need to excel at their jobs.

I’m excited for the next two years and the potential for progress and growth. Eager for the sharing of innovative ideas, creative solutions and top-notch meetings, and equally important, keeping it fun! And I’ll also have the privilege of working with a talented group of professionals. The vision is a simple one; focus our attention on what matters to our members and our community. With hard work, good planning, lots of laughter and a team of dedicated volunteers, the rest will fall into place.

I’ll also be reaching out to all of our members to learn how we can serve needs specifically. Our work is ever evolving, so understanding how we can better engage, interact and provide relevant programs and services will be an important part of this board’s work and focus.
